There are four preschools owned by the Canterbury Early Learning Centre, with each running with its own culture and individuality according to the needs of the community it serves.
North Canterbury brother and sister, Sally and Ross Moffatt, own the business. Sally is trained and qualified in Early Childhood Education and Ross’ business skills and chartered accountancy qualifications combine to run the business.
We place a strong emphasis on providing quality education and an evolving and exciting curriculum for the children to develop their natural sense of curiosity and learning. Our experienced and qualified staff incorporate the educational aspects through providing loving, individualised care for the children, and each centre presents a rewarding, well resourced, and supportive environment for our teachers, children and families. Each of the four centres is run by a Centre Manager who reports directly to Sally and Ross and is supported by a Curriculum Manager, HR Advisor and Office Administrator.
In 1999 the first preschool was opened in Woodend, followed by the acquisition of Minnies Preschool in Merivale in 2003, Avonhead Montessori Preschool in 2007 and in 2008 Southbrook Early Learning Centre was purpose built in Rangiora as the final addition to the portfolio of preschools. We are delighted to share information about our preschools with you and welcome any questions or queries that can help you make the important decision around finding the right Early Childhood Education centre for your child.
